The Swainstons

No coincidence these guys came to me.  One happens to be my cousin.  So I’m very glad that she thought enough of my photography to bring her business to me, even though she’s not conveniently located near me.  It’s fun to do a relaxed, casual family pictures.  It’s just a very different experience than a wedding or the like, and it is nice variety, since due to the time of year I’d just been doing a lot of weddings!  It’s no secret that kids can be a challenge, but they also can add to a picture some fun that only they can, funny expressions, laughs, etc.  Sometimes my favorite pictures of kids are when they’re not doing as their parents would prefer, haha.  These little guys were pretty great though.  The older boy had down his child modeling poses, and only needed to be redirected a little over time to get focused.  The younger one wasn’t pleased with the picture situation entirely, and got tired of the pictures before too long, but overall was behaving quite well.  Where kids are concerned, I call that very successful.

The Extended Tripp Family

An extended family shoot has it’s own challenges and rewards.  Lots of people, lots of personalities, lots of styles, lots of likes, lots of dislikes, lots of opinions.  Also, lots of really awesome, really nice people to meet.  For me this started a whole weekend working in Bear Lake.  This extended family had gathered together from all over and had obviously been having a really great time playing together at Bear Lake before grandpa and grandma left to serve a mission.  However, none of the kids had much sympathy for the ‘work’ involved in their call… they’ll be going to Hawaii! :)

This shoot involved over 700 pictures (one set of grandparents, 8 children of their own, almost all with families of their own, one child with a child with a family of his own, so you do the math), so for this shoot I compiled a little collage to give you some idea of the diversity of stuff we shot.

Oh and PS, MAN WAS IT HOT!!!

Taylor Family

This shoot got rescheduled at least 4 times.  It always rained when ever we chose to go.  We were all very surprised when it finally was this nice of a day.  Unfortunately little Taylor was in a mood, probably needed a longer nap, haha.  But that’s the risk anytime you go out to shoot small kids.  I felt through time and quantity we got enough shots I was confident there were some shots we’d like.  And we did.

(This picture just cracks me up because of the little guys head back howl!  We’re all so nice we just laughed at him.)
